Fundamentals of inorganic and organic chemistry ERASMUS>KOS05
SUBJECT LEARNING OUTCOMES
After completing the course and confirming the achievement of the assumed learning outcomes, the student:
- Has basic chemical knowledge, including the structure of matter and characteristics of selected elements and chemical compounds.
- Knows the selected processes taking place in solutions, understands the effect of water as a solvent, and comprehends concepts such as reaction and pH.
- Uses the "language of chemistry" – writes down the electron configurations of atoms and elements of their structure; writes down/draws the chemical formulas of organic and inorganic compounds; names compounds; writes down chemical reaction equations; performs selected chemical calculations related to the composition of solutions/preparations (calculation of concentration, amount of ingredients necessary to prepare the solution/preparation).
- Is ready to independently supplement and improve the acquired knowledge and skills in the basics of chemistry.
PROGRAM CONTENT RELATED TO LEARNING OUTCOMES (including self-study).
Lecture:
1. Structure of matter, elements of quantum mechanics in the qualitative approach.
2. Chemical bonds.
3. Water and its properties.
4. Nomenclature of inorganic compounds; physical change and chemical reaction; mole; types of chemical reactions and reaction equations; kinetics and chemical equilibrium; solutions; methods of expressing the composition of the solution.
5. Electrolytic dissociation; electrolytes; acids and bases (Arrhenius theory); ammonia; solution reaction; pH; acid-base indicators; ionic processes; water hardness.
6. Bioelements.
7. Organic compounds – structure, nomenclature and characteristics (along with selected cosmetological accents): (i) hydrocarbons; (ii) heterocyclic compounds; (iii) alcohols and phenols; (iv) ethers; (v) amines; (vi) aldehydes and ketones; (vii) carboxylic acids and their derivatives (acid halides, acid anhydrides, amides, esters, nitriles); (viii) selected biomolecules.
Practical course:
1. Atom structure; electron configurations.
2. Nomenclature and formulas of inorganic compounds.
3. Writing chemical reaction equations.
4. Concentrations.
5. Equations of the electrolytic dissociation reaction; pH.
6. Organic compounds – structure and nomenclature.
