SUBJECT LEARNING OUTCOMES.
After completing the course and confirming the achievement of the assumed learning outcomes, the student:
- Knows the techniques of body relaxing massage and facial massage.
- Knows the cosmetic preparations and their proper use in a SPA.
- Knows the indications and contraindications for SPA procedures.
- Knows modern procedures and treatments used in a SPA.
- Discusses the principles of occupational health and safety during SPA and wellness treatments.
- Is able to properly perform a relaxation treatment, taking into account indications and contraindications
- Can apply cosmetic methods of body renewal.
- Is able to use specialized equipment and apparatus when performing SPA treatments.
- Is able to use SPA cosmetics in accordance with their intended use.
- Is able to perform classic and relaxing massage, taking into account the individual needs of the client.
- Is willing to be respectful to the client and show care for their well-being.
PROGRAM CONTENT RELATED TO LEARNING OUTCOMES (including self-study).
Lecture:
1. Discussion of the curriculum, objectives and targets of the subject. Philosophy and types of SPA centres.
2. Types of preparations, apparatus used in SPA and wellness centers.
3. Types of treatments and rituals used in SPA centers.
4. Types of massage.
5. Relaxation methods. Flotation.
Laboratory:
1. Familiarization with health and safety rules during SPA treatments.
2. Body massage: (hot chocolate, hot stones, hot shells, candles, honey, brushes).
3. Dry brushing, ice massage.
4. Hydrotherapy.
5. Thermotherapy. Types of saunas.
6. Balneotherapy and thalassotherapy.
7. Clay therapy.
