Programmable logic controllers I ERASMUS>ELE11

The course introduces the fundamentals of PLC-based industrial automation. Students explore PLC architecture and operating systems, IEC 61131 programming languages, and typical sensors and actuators encountered on the factory floor. Emphasis is placed on choosing and wiring input/output devices, structuring programs with functional blocks, and commissioning simple control loops. By the end, participants can specify, program, and integrate a distributed automation system that meets basic safety and documentation standards.

Intended learning outcomes:
- Student lists and explains the main types and application areas of PLCs, understands the PLC operating system, and can describe the operation of simple industrial-automation systems.
- Student knows and understands the principles of PLC operation and the methods used to program them.
- Student is able to write and execute a program in a PLC programming language.
- Student selects components for a distributed automation system and is capable of designing its electrical schematic.
