Electrical machines ERASMUS>ELE07
The course equips students with ordered knowledge of the construction, operating principles and steady-state characteristics of transformers as well as induction, synchronous and DC machines. Emphasis is placed on analysing typical operating states, performing laboratory measurements and interpreting results, so that participants can select, commission and test electric-machine systems for engineering applications. Alongside technical content, the syllabus fosters planning, documentation and teamwork skills essential to professional electrical engineers.
Intended learning outcomes
- Student understands the design, operating principles and exploitation aspects of transformers and AC/DC electrical machines, and explains the physical phenomena occurring in these devices.
- Student can plan and carry out measurements of parameters and record characteristics of transformers, motors and generators.
- Student works effectively both individually and in small teams, prepares and executes schedules, and produces engineering documentation on time.
- Student is able to design, build, start up and test a simple electric or electronic circuit using appropriate methods, techniques and tools.
- Student compares alternative design solutions in electrical engineering and electronics against selected technical and economic criteria.
- Student recognises the broader environmental and societal impact of an electrical engineer’s decisions and accepts responsibility for those decisions.
