Aims of the course:
1. Acquainting with the laws and concepts related to pharmacology in the scope which allows to understand the mechanism of the influence of pharmacologically active substances on a human body.
2. Acquisition and improvement of knowledge about drug groups used in various units , dosage and routes of administration, including side effects and drug interference.
3. Develop the ability to use medicines responsibly.
4. Mastering the rules for issuing prescriptions as part of the execution of medical orders, in accordance with applicable regulations.

Efekty kształcenia
1. Basic concepts of pharmacology, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
2. Mechanisms of drug action (receptor theory, chemical drug action mechanisms).
3. The concept of drug phase interactions and pharmacological interactions (additive, hyperadditional and antagonism). Adverse and toxic effects of drugs.
4. The influence of the medicine on the central and peripheral nervous system.
5. Opioid and non-opioid analgesics. Pharmacotherapy pain.
6. Antibacterial chemotherapeutic agents and antiviral drugs.
7. Drugs used in diseases of the cardiovascular system. Drugs used in diseases of the digestive system. Drugs used in diseases of the respiratory system. Characteristics of drugs used in the pharmacotherapy of life-threatening states.
