Sociology ERASMUS>NSOCI
This course prepares the student to use terminology from general sociology and the sociology of medicine. Demonstrates the relationship between the patient's health and social situation. It teaches the attitude of sensitivity to the social situation of a human being in its conditionings with health and illness, and also the ability to perceive and properly identify socio-cultural conditionings of human life.
Learning outcomes
KNOWLEDGE – A STUDENT KNOWS AND UNDERSTANDS:
1. the concepts and principles of group, organization, institution, population, community and ecosystem,
2. selected areas of cultural and religious distinctiveness,
3. the scope of social interaction and socialization process and functioning of local communities and ecosystem,
4. the concepts of deviation and disorder, with particular emphasis on child pathology,
5. phenomenon of social, cultural, ethnic and sex discrimination.
SKILLS – A STUDENT IS ABLE TO:
1. assess the impact of illness and hospitalization on human physical and mental condition,
2. suggest actions to prevent discrimination and racism as well as deviation and pathology among children and adolescents.
SOCIAL SKILLS – A STUDENT IS READY TO:
1. be guided by the best interests of the patient, respect the dignity and autonomy of those entrusted to their care, show understanding for differences in worldview and culture, and show empathy in relationships with patients and their families.
