Ethics of the Nursing Profession ERASMUS>ETNUR
The course teaches the basic concepts related to the philosophy and ethics of the profession, factors conditioning the development of the nursing profession. It indicates the principles and ethical rules enabling to realize the main aims of human health care, indicates and justifies the forms of contact with a patient, which would serve to rebuild safety of a patient and shape the desired professional relations
Learning outcomes
KNOWLEDGE – A STUDENT KNOWS AND UNDERSTANDS:
1. the subject of general and professional ethics,
2. the essence of making ethical decisions and solving moral dilemmas in nursing work,
3. problems of normative ethics, including axiology of values, duties and moral abilities important in a nurse's work,
4. code of professional ethics for nurses and midwives
SKILLS – A STUDENT IS ABLE TO:
1. resolve ethical and moral dilemmas in nursing practice
SOCIAL SKILLS – A STUDENT IS READY TO:
1. be guided by the best interests of the patient, respect the dignity and autonomy of those entrusted to their care, show understanding for differences in worldview and culture, and show empathy in relationships with patients and their families,
2. recognize and recognize their own limitations in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences, and make self-assessments of deficits and educational needs.
3. independently and reliably perform the profession in accordance with ethical principles, including compliance with moral values and duties in patient care
4. respect patients' rights
