Geriatrics and geriatric nursing I ERASMUS>PIE34
The exercises aim to prepare students for independent, professional care of older adults and to provide knowledge about the specific health problems and the different course of diseases in old age.
The scope and practical tasks include:
1. Communication with the older patient and their family – simulation of therapeutic and educational conversations.
2. Conducting a geriatric interview with attention to emotional and social aspects.
3. Managing difficult situations – aggression, disorientation, patient frustration; simulations and responses in accordance with procedures and safety rules.
4. Ethical dilemmas in caring for older adults – case analysis of violations of patient autonomy or dignity, and discussion of solutions compliant with the code of ethics and legal regulations.
5. The nursing process in the nurse’s work – collecting and verifying data, formulating and prioritising nursing problems, evaluating care.
6. Comprehensive assessment of the geriatric patient using CGA (Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment) tools.
7. Procedures in cases of elder abuse – legal, organisational, and psychological standards, as well as supporting staff in coping with difficult emotions.
Location: Medical Simulation center ANS in Piła
Organisational requirements: medical clothing (top and trousers), clean medical or sports footwear, ID badge.
