COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon completion of the course and after achieving the intended learning outcomes, the student:
1. Knows and describes fundamental research in the field of social psychology. Can trace and interpret findings related to how individuals function in social reality, with particular emphasis on children at different developmental stages.
2. Characterizes selected topics in social psychology, indicating diverse strategies and interventions useful in the adaptation process, and demonstrates how to use them within educational settings at various stages of schooling.
3. Interprets research findings related to human functioning in social contexts and applies them to analyze and understand specific individual behaviors.
4. Is able to clearly share their knowledge, convey it to others, and demonstrate how it can be used to understand behaviors and support the social adaptation of their charges.
5. Is ready to apply acquired psychological knowledge in analyzing pedagogical events.
CURRICULUM CONTENT REFERENCED TO LEARNING OUTCOMES
Lecture:
1. Issues related to small groups: definition, internal group processes, communication and interaction; survival strategies in education in teacher-child interactions.
2. Social influence: techniques of social influence, manipulation techniques.
3. Theories of social perception: verbal and non-verbal communication – rules of disclosure, gender differences in non-verbal communication, theory of social roles.
4. Theories of social attribution: essence of the attribution process, types of attribution, fundamental attribution error, actor–observer bias.
5. Issues related to attitudes: definition, attitude change, factors influencing modification and transformation of attitudes.
6. Shaping student attitudes.
Self-study:
1. Preparation for classes (literature study)
2. Preparation for course credit (presentation, paper, essay)
