Introduction to numerical methods ERASMUS>MEC01
Aims of the course:
1. Acquainting students with selected numerical methods.
2. Developing students' skills in solving engineering problems with the use of selected numerical methods.
KNOWLEDGE – A STUDENT KNOWS AND UNDERSTANDS:
1. the issues in mathematics necessary to solve engineering problems using numerical methods;
2. programming issues necessary to solve non-linear equations, solve systems of linear equations using Gaussian elimination, numerical integration, approximation, interpolation, solving non-linear equations;
3. numerical methods used for: solving systems of linear equations using Gaussian elimination method, numerical integration, approximation, interpolation, solving nonlinear equations.
SKILLS – A STUDENT IS ABLE TO:
4. to write a program in VBA;
5. using numerical methods:
- solve nonlinear equations (bisection Method, Newton’s method),
- solve a system of linear equations (Gaussian elimination method),
- integrate numerically (multiple trapezoidal rule, multiple Simpson’s rule),
- use approximation,
- use interpolation (Lagrange interpolating polynomial, Spline function).
SOCIAL SKILLS – A STUDENT IS READY TO:
6. work both independently and in a group in which he takes various roles, is responsible for their own work.
