Methodology of research in social sciences with elements of statistics ERASMUS>KRY14
Issues that will be discussed in detail during the course:
Qualitative and quantitative research (inference, sampling, hypotheses), mixed methods, tools of quantitative methods (survey, questionnaire interview, poll), tools of qualitative methods (observation, qualitative interviews, focus interviews), ethnographic research, methodological and ethical problems in social research on the example of own research, construction of a quantitative tool (research questionnaire) along with research design and analysis of results, development of observation instructions along with conducting observations, construction of a qualitative tool (free interview) along with research design and analysis of results.
After the course the student will know the basic principles of conducting scientific research, conceptualizing a research problem, constructing research tools, and developing research results. They will also learn about the limitations associated with the use of different research methodologies and research tools. The student will be able to accurately and comprehensively formulate thoughts and judgments on the research conducted and use specialized terminology in the field of social research methodology. In addition, the student will be able to select the research problem and carry out its conceptualization, as well as characterize and research use of basic techniques and tools used in social research. They will also be able to analyze empirical material and prepare it in the form of a research report.
The student will also be able to independently conduct scientific research in accordance with the principles of scientific work ethics and the law, with particular emphasis on honesty and integrity.
