SUBJECT LEARNING OUTCOMES.
After completing the course and confirming the achievement of the assumed learning outcomes, the student:
- Knows the basic disease entities of the scalp and hair to the extent necessary for a cosmetologist.
- Is familiar with trichological preparations and their appropriate use.
- Is aware of the place of trichology within medical science.
- Knows the principles of occupational hygiene and safety during trichological procedures.
- Is able to correctly perform a trichological treatment in accordance with the procedures for a given condition.
- Is able to use specialized equipment and apparatus while performing trichology treatments.
- Can explain to the client the choice of trichological treatment appropriate to their skincare needs.
- Is able to give advice on lifestyle, diet and cosmetics to improve the appearance of the scalp and hair.
- Can recognize a pathological lesion of the scalp and hair that requires medical intervention.
- Can apply trichological preparations according to their intended use.
- Is able to cooperate with a medical practitioner and follow their instructions in case of pathological changes of the hair and/or scalp.
- Is able to carry out the trichology interview correctly.
- Is aware of the limitations of his/her own knowledge and knows when to consult a dermatologist.
- Is willing to work with the dermatologist to resolve client problems.
PROGRAM CONTENT RELATED TO LEARNING OUTCOMES (including self-study):
Lecture:
1. Trichology as a science. The place of trichology within medical science.
2. Structure of the hair, hair cycle, diseases of the scalp and hair.
3. Types of trichological preparations.
4. Support of therapy using trichological procedures.
Laboratory:
1. Health and safety rules. Rules and regulations of the trichology laboratory.
2. Types of trichological procedures in various conditions including indications and contraindications for the procedure.
3. Trichological microimaging.
4. Methodology of trichological procedure. Application of preparations.
5. Using of steam sauna and infrared/ultrasound hair remedy electric items.
6. Darsonval treatment.
7. Oxybrasion.
8. Application of oxygen infusion.
9. Application of micro-needle mesotherapy in the treatment of selected conditions.
10. Innovative treatments used in trichology.
