SUBJECT LEARNING OUTCOMES.
After completing the course and confirming the achievement of the assumed learning outcomes, the student:
- Knows the chemical properties and uses of vitamins in cosmetic preparations.
- Knows the structure, function and role of vitamins in the body.
- Has knowledge of vitamins as active substances in cosmetic preparations.
- Understands the effects of vitamins on skin condition and functioning on the metabolic level.
- Discusses types of cosmetic preparations in which vitamins are important ingredients.
- Can advise on the choice of a vitamin-containing cosmetic product according to the type and condition of the skin and the expectations and characteristics of the client.
- Is able to select a vitamin-containing cosmetic product appropriate to the skin type in order to plan a cosmetic treatment.
- Is able to identify the vitamins present in a cosmetic composition and determine their functions.
- Is ready to take care of the client's well-being by defining home recommendations for skincare using preparations containing specific active ingredients, including vitamins.
- Is ready to formulate opinions and recommendations using knowledge of the vitamins in cosmetic products.
PROGRAM CONTENT RELATED TO LEARNING OUTCOMES (including self-study):
Lecture:
1. Biological properties of vitamins used in cosmetology.
2. Persistence of vitamins. Methods of fixation and stabilization of vitamins.
3. Vitamins used in cosmetic preparations with reference to skin lesions.
4. Natural and synthetic vitamins. Vitamin derivatives. Factors affecting absorption.
5. Methods of application of vitamins in/on the skin.
Practical course:
1. Vitamin cocktails in cosmetology.
2. Vitamin C in modern cosmetology. Antioxidant effects of vitamin C and its derivatives.
3. Cosmetic use of vitamin A and its derivatives. Targeted action of a cosmetic preparation.
4. Cosmetic application of vitamin E and its derivatives. Vitamin E as a natural preservative.
5. Analysis of the composition of selected cosmetic preparations in terms of vitamin content and discussion of their function.
