SUBJECT LEARNING OUTCOMES.
After completing the course and confirming the achievement of the assumed learning outcomes, the student:
- Knows the most important plants and the active substances in them which are used in cosmetic preparations and procedures.
- Describes methods of extractions and forms of plant preparations used in cosmetology.
- Carries out calculations related to the use of plant raw materials in cosmetology.
- Is able to identify substances of plant origin in cosmetics and is able determine their effects.
- Is ready to make recommendations appropriate to the needs and expectations of the client based on knowledge of plant raw materials.
PROGRAM CONTENT RELATED TO LEARNING OUTCOMES (including self-study):
Lecture:
1. Elements of systematics, morphology and anatomy of plant species providing raw materials of cosmetological interest.
2. Active substances of plant origin and their use in cosmetology.
3. Characteristics of selected plant species that are a source of cosmetic raw materials.
4. Methods of obtaining and forms of plant preparations.
Practical course:
1. Analysis of the composition of cosmetic preparations in the context of plant raw materials.
2. Composition of cosmetic preparations with specific functions - selection of sources of plant raw materials, production of plant preparations - calculation tasks.
3. Current trends in the use of active substances of plant origin in cosmetology (student projects).
