SUBJECT LEARNING OUTCOMES
After completing the course and confirming the achievement of the assumed learning outcomes, the student:
- Knows the origin, properties, scope of application and interactions with the environment of the basic active substances used in cosmetic preparations.
- Knows the basic substances used in cosmetic preparation (including substrates, preservatives and excipients): their effect and scope of application.
- Has knowledge about the composition and preparation of cosmetic preparations.
- Has basic knowledge of standards and regulations for the manufacture and marketing of cosmetic products.
- Has basic knowledge of cosmetic manufacturing technology.
- Understands the health and safety rules of the cosmetic formulation laboratory.
- Has the ability to perform basic laboratory activities and can use them to prepare cosmetic preparations.
- Is able to perform basic calculations regarding the composition and formulation of cosmetic products.
- Is able to correctly read cosmetic formulas and formulation descriptions and determine the range of functions of formulation ingredients.
- Is aware of advances in the technology and composition of cosmetic preparations and the need to monitor changes taking place on the cosmetic market.
PROGRAM CONTENT RELATED TO LEARNING OUTCOMES (including self-study).
Lecture:
1. General guidelines for the manufacture and marketing of cosmetic products, European Union standards and regulations. Division of raw materials by the role they play in cosmetics.
2. The concept of technology. Elements of the technological process.
3. The concept of cosmetic form technology. Physical operations used in the cosmetic form technology. Principles of quality control of the cosmetic form.
4. Basic knowledge of cosmetics in the formulation of qualitative and quantitative composition.
5. Active substances in a cosmetic formula: properties, effects, use and interactions.
6. Rules for the use of excipients and preservatives.
7. Types of cosmetic products, their composition and use.
Laboratory:
1. Regulations and organization of work in the cosmetic formulation laboratory.
2. Reading and analyzing the cosmetic formula. Discussion on the functions of individual components. Calculations related to the composition and formula of cosmetic products. Basic laboratory activities related to the preparation of cosmetic preparations.
3. Preparation and execution of formulations in the field of beauty cosmetics.
4. Preparation and execution of formulations in the field of skincare cosmetics.
5. Preparation and execution of formulations in the field of washing cosmetics.
