SUBJECT LEARNING OUTCOMES.
After completing the course and confirming the achievement of the assumed learning outcomes, the student:
- Knows the effects on the skin of physical factors involved in cosmetological treatments.
- Knows the skincare treatments used for all skin types.
- Knows cosmetic preparations and their appropriate use in treatments using heat, cold, light, electricity and ultrasound.
- Knows the indications and contraindications for treatments using heat, cold, light, electrotherapy and ultrasound.
- Knows, to the extent necessary for a cosmetologist, the basic physiotherapeutic techniques (light therapy, electrotherapy, heat therapy) applied to the face and body.
- Discusses the principles of hygiene and safety in carrying out treatment procedures.
- Is able to correctly carry out a care treatment with the use of heat, cold, light, galvanic current, ultrasound, taking into account indications and contraindications.
- Is able to use specialized apparatus in performing care treatments with the use of heat, cold, light, galvanic current, ultrasound, taking into account health and safety rules, methodology and indications and contraindications.
- Is able to explain the choice of treatment and give advice on the use of heat, cold, light, galvanic current and ultrasound and select cosmetics to improve the condition of the skin.
- Can give advice on cosmetics and treatments to improve the appearance of the skin.
- Is able to carry out a cosmetic interview correctly and complete a client chart.
- Is aware of the limitations of his/her own knowledge and knows when to consult experts in the fields of physiotherapy and dermatology.
- Is willing to be respectful, provides clients with full mental and physical comfort when carrying out treatments using heat, cold, light, electrotherapy and ultrasound.
- Is ready to interact and work in a group, taking on different roles within the group and to work in interdisciplinary collaboration to solve the client’s problems.
- Is ready to formulate opinions regarding the client based on the analysis and synthesis of data obtained during the interview.
PROGRAM CONTENT RELATED TO LEARNING OUTCOMES (including self-study):
Lecture:
1. Division and effects of ultraviolet radiation on the skin. Skin photo-ageing.
2. Skin phototypes. Melanogenesis. Radioprotective preparations. Hyperpigmentation.
3. Application of heat, cold and light in cosmetology including indications and contraindications.
4. Application of electricity in cosmetological procedures, including indications and contraindications.
5. Application of ultrasound in cosmetological procedures, with consideration of indications and contraindications.
Laboratory:
1. Introducing the regulations, health and safety and fire safety rules in the nursing cosmetology laboratory.
2. Conducting a cosmetic interview. Treatment procedures with heat, cold, light: hot-cold, Sollux lamp, IR, LED.
3. Conducting a cosmetic interview. Treatment procedures using electrotherapy: electrolysis, electrocoagulation, electrostimulation.
4. Cosmetic interviewing. Current procedures: darsonvisation, galvanisation, iontophoresis.
5. Conducting a cosmetic interview. Treatment procedures using currents: electroporation, needleless mesotherapy, radiofrequency (RF).
6. Cosmetic interview. Treatment procedures using ultrasound: sonophoresis, cavitation, micromassage.
