Lecture:
1. The idea of Active Rehabilitation and its role in the process of social adaptation of people with disabilities. Programs, purpose, scope and forms of organization's activities for the benefit of people with disabilities. Specificity of diseases and disabilities requiring an active wheelchair. Prevention, solving problems of early and late complications in SCI and POR: disorders of the urinary system, defecation, sexual and procreative, as well as the issue of bedsores, thermoregulation and spasticity.
2. Specificity of diseases and disabilities requiring an active wheelchair. Problems of social and professional activation of people in wheelchairs. Examples of system solutions.

Exercises:
1. The idea of Active Rehabilitation and its role in the process of social adaptation of people with disabilities. Forms of organization's activities for people with disabilities in wheelchairs - FAR, PFRON and others. Specificity of diseases and disabilities requiring an active wheelchair.
2. Prevention, solving the problems of early and late complications in SCI and POR. Medical supplies and equipment, practical use.
3. Training program for an assistant of a disabled person. Techniques of carrying and belaying a disabled person. Self-service training in everyday life activities of people with disabilities.
4. Concept and specification of technical parameters of an active wheelchair. Proper selection and configuration of the trolley. Belaying and safety rules during driving technique training and other forms of physical activity on a wheelchair. Rules for moving in an active wheelchair. Learning basic skills - driving forwards, backwards, turns and returns.
5. Overcoming low and high architectural obstacles (uphill and downhill slopes, uphill and downhill stairs. An example of Active Rehabilitation training: general development, with balls. Transport and traveling - practical issues) urban and rail transport, adapting cars to the needs of people in a wheelchair ) - practical activities in the field.

Learning outcomes
1. Active rehabilitation – integrated intensive system of amending people after spinal cord injury.
2. Fitting and regulation of a wheelchair (type: ACTIV) for individual needs of a user.
3. Teaching methods of using a wheelchair.
4. Expected functional state and self-service of people with different level of spinal cord injury.
5. Self-service training after spinal cord injury.
6. Prevention and solving problems of early and late-staged post-traumatic complications: reproductive system and sexual disorders, thermoregulations, bedsores, infection of the urinary system, spasticity, oedema, contracture.
