COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course provides students with an understanding of the specific roles, responsibilities, and challenges faced by managers operating in both public and private sector organizations. It explores differences in organizational goals, stakeholder expectations, and performance measurement. The course emphasizes practical managerial skills, strategic thinking, and effective communication within varied institutional frameworks.

- Fundamentals of management in public vs. private sectors;
- Organizational structures and decision-making processes;
- Management styles and leadership approaches;
- Public policy and governance impacts;
- Ethics, accountability, and transparency;
- Performance measurement and evaluation;
- Human resource management and motivation;
- Communication and stakeholder management.
Goals and objectives of the coursein terms of competences and skills:
Upon completion of the course, students will:
- Understand the distinctions and similarities between public and private sector management;
- Acquire knowledge of institutional frameworks and organizational dynamics;
- Develop strategic thinking and leadership skills suitable for both sectors;
- Be able to assess organizational effectiveness and implement improvement strategies;
- Strengthen their interpersonal and communication competencies;
- Gain skills in ethical decision-making and accountability management.

Knowledge:
LO1: Understands the basic characteristics, objectives, and organizational structures of public and private sector institutions.
LO2: Has knowledge of the roles, tasks, and competencies of managers in both sectors.
LO3: Understands mechanisms of management, decision-making, and accountability in different types of organizations.
Skills:
LO4: Can compare the functioning of public institutions and private enterprises from a managerial perspective.
LO5: Is able to identify key challenges and propose solutions to managerial problems in both sectors.
LO6: Can analyze basic management case studies and draw conclusions relevant to managerial practice.
Social Competencies:
LO7: Is aware of the differences in social and ethical responsibility between public and private sector managers.
LO8: Demonstrates readiness for teamwork and active participation in discussions on managerial dilemmas in various sectors.
Evaluation criteria of study results:
Attendance, work during classes – 20%
Home task, presentatations – 30%
