Aims of the Course:
To introduce students to the principles and methods of foundation design in various soil and groundwater conditions. To cover the design of shallow and intermediate foundations, and to present modern soil improvement technologies.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Shallow foundations – design and dimensioning in relation to soil properties
2. Deep foundations – pile types, installation technologies, caissons, and deep excavations
3. Earth structure elements – embankments and drainage systems
4. Soil reinforcement techniques – soil stabilization and foundation strengthening methods.
