Aims of the Course:
To introduce concepts related to heat and mass transfer in building envelopes and structures.
Learning Outcomes:
- Building physics in the context of sustainable construction principles; the concept of thermal comfort
- Fundamentals of building thermal physics; heat and mass transfer in materials and building systems
- Legal regulations for thermal protection in buildings; thermal insulation of building envelopes and structural elements
- The concept of thermal bridges
- Risk of surface and interstitial condensation
- Elements of energy performance assessments; thermal balance of buildings
