Reliability of structures ERASMUS>BUD05
The subject concerns the practical evaluation of structural reliability. Random variables and their characteristics and distribution or functions are defined by Monte Carlo method. The structural safety is evaluated by ultimate limit states method together with reliability indexes. Implementation of reliability requirements into technical standards (modeling of loads, combination of loads, carrying capacity of engineering materials) is discussed and presented. Introduction into analysis of structural systems is also included into subject content. Students have to carry out the probabilistic analysis of the failure for the selected structure using the Monte Carlo method, as well as other reliability parameters for structural elements (beams, columns).
